Description / Pea Soup

This traditional tile is made from a light, raw and unrefined clay from the Atlas Mountains. This natural earth is mixed with water, shaped by hand, then dried in the sun. After an initial firing, the biscuit - called Bejmat - is glazed, tile by tile, in a wide variety of colors and transparent shades. The final stage of production is the cutting of the glazed Bejmat into tiles of multiple shapes and sizes. We carry the classic 10cm square but all sizes and shapes can be custom ordered. For installation they are traditionally embedded into coloured plaster but they can also be glued and grouted in the western style.
